Good Behavior Beginnings provided Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children in the Anchorage area. Services included in-school support, in-home ABA therapy, parent and provider training, and consultation. With ABA, professionals can target skill development as well as decrease disruptive behaviors. ABA is an individualized program tailored to the needs of the client and family.
In June 2016, Good Behavior Beginnings was initially given a Distinguished Award from the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE) and has maintained that distinction every year until Good Behavior Beginnings closed in June 2020. The award celebrates exceptional special needs providers that excel in the areas of clinical quality, staff satisfaction, and qualifications and consumer satisfaction. These areas are measured via a wide-ranging audit, including interviews with agency clinical leadership, a detailed staff qualification review, an anonymous staff satisfaction survey, and an anonymous consumer satisfaction survey.
“Good Behavior Beginnings is an exemplary model of a program that strictly adheres to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and ethically services a remote and rural population of individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or developmental disabilities,” said Sara Gershfeld, Founder of BHCOE. “A Center of Excellence adopts and implements quality standards that promote thriving futures for their consumers. There are only a handful of companies that have achieved this level of distinction nationwide and we are very pleased to add GBB to this celebrated group.”
BHCOE is a trusted source for recognizing top-performing behavioral health providers. Acting as a third-party, the organization systematically measures and reports on existing quality criteria in the behavior analysis community using standardized methods and practices, and awards only those service agencies that meet elite standards.
